The Residence of V. was built in the 1950s as a suburban villa resembling the neighbouring residences. It had been modified several times and the last attempt at remodelling was abruptly discontinued. To suit present-day expectations, the villa required a lot of modernisation and refurbishment. The current cubical structure creates a central hall that is closed off from the street and opens onto the garden through a large glass area. The design has a modernist air in its reduction to the use of simple materials, e.g. white plaster, glass, wood, natural stone. The spaciousness and the dignified finish are especially reminiscent of Mies van der Rohe’s villas from the 1920s.
